The port of Calais – Turin Orbassano rail motorway is now operational.

On Novembre 6th 2018 ; VIIA, the French operator for rail motorways, inaugurated its new Calais – Turin Orbassano line. Élisabeth Borne, the French Minister reporting to the Ministre d’Etat, Minister for the Ecological and Solidarity-Based Transition, with responsibility for Transport; Natacha Bouchart, mayor of Calais; Jean-Marc Puissesseau, Chairman and CEO of Port Boulogne Calais; Guillaume Pepy, Chairman of the Executive Board, SNCF; and Thierry Le Guillaux, Chairman of VIIA were all present at the port of Calais to attend the event.
After the opening of the VIIA Britanica line connecting Calais to Le Boulou, near Perpignan at the French-Spanish border, VIIA is now opening a new rail motorway to Italy. Now, Great Britain is linked to Spain and Italy thanks to the port of Calais.
Jean-Marc Puissesseau, Chairman and CEO of Port Boulogne Calais : « With the opening of this new service proposed by our partner VIIA, the port of Calais is now the main sea / road / rail interconnection hub between the north and the south of Europe. »
