Boulogne Calais Port

Freight Import & Export

ACCOMPANIED TRAFFIC: IMPORT & EXPORT

Import & Export processes from after the Brexit

  • EXPORT process (EU Calais/UK Dover)

To ensure the fastest possible transit, on arrival at the port of Calais, the driver of the vehicle must be in possession, in paper or digital (smartphone) format, of the bar code (CMR number) generated by the customs declarations platform at the end. Customs formalities must be carried out with the French AND British customs.

This bar code will be scanned as the vehicle passes through the control booths of the maritime operators: NO OTHER FORMALITY.

  • IMPORT process (UK Dover/EU Calais)

As with export, the customs formalities need to be carried out on leaving Dover before boarding and the driver must be in possession of veterinary certificates for freight that requires them.

Customs formalisites must be carried out with the French AND British customs.

Vehicle drivers will be informed during the crossing by information screens aboard ferries of the status of their trailers. The licence plate number of the trailer will be displayed with the corresponding green or orange colour.

- Green : the status is OK.

The driver picks up their vehicle and follows the "green" arrow route that leads them out of the port, as they do today. No change.

- Orange : the status is not OK.

The driver picks up their vehicle and follows the "orange" arrow route which directs them to the customs control area provided for this purpose. They park up for validation and/or customs, sanirtary, phytosanitary controls to be carried out.

Custom status: a special tool for truck drivers

The port of Calais has developed a special tool that’s very easy to use (web page), available in 12 languages (French, English, Spanish, German, Romanian, Russian, Bulgarian, Polish, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Czech and Turkish), allowing truck drivers to check the customs status of their cargo as soon as the ship is unloaded (on import) and monitor its progress in case of "orange" status.

All they need to do is flash a QR Code or visit the dedicated web page:
customs.calais-port.fr
