This morning, at the port of Boulogne, Hibernia Line confirmed at a press conference the launch of a new maritime service between the ports of Boulogne-sur-Mer and Ringaskiddy, in County Cork in south-west Ireland, thereby inaugurating a new direct route between mainland Europe and Ireland.

From June 2026, two RoPax ferries, the ‘St Patrick’ and the ‘MV Akka’, will operate six return crossings per week, all year round, carrying leisure passengers and freight vehicles.
The crossings will take place overnight (departing at 10 pm) with a journey time of approximately 21 hours.

Laurent Devulder, CEO of Port Boulogne Calais, said: “It is a great pleasure to see maritime activity resume at the Boulogne-sur-Mer ro-ro terminal. This announcement marks the culmination of several years of work, during which Port Boulogne Calais has consistently supported the project’s promoters and made strategic investments to upgrade the terminal.
This regular service opens up new development opportunities for logistics and port operators in the region.

The port would like to thank the national and Hauts-de-France regional authorities for their vital commitment to the launch of this new route.

And well done to the port teams, who have worked tirelessly with energy and enthusiasm over the past few months!

Fair winds and following seas to this new ferry route!
