Registration & Checks

Stage 1
Registration
Register at one of your ferry company’s ticket offices at the port entrance. You do not need to leave your vehicle.
Stage 2
Border controls
Follow the route to the French and then British border controls. Have your travel documents ready.
Stage 3
Boarding
Join the boarding queue indicated on your ticket. Wait for the signal from an airline representative before boarding.

Check-in: passengers must check in 60 minutes before the ship’s departure time and up to 2 hours before departure depending on the company during busy periods (summer, end-of-year holidays or Easter holidays). Please check directly with the company you have booked your crossing with.

If you are travelling with pets, please inform the agent when you check in.

Please note: If you purchased your ticket through a tour operator (AF Ferries, Direct Ferries or others), check your booking for the name of the shipping company you will be travelling with. These resellers are not shipping companies, so they do not have check-in desks.

Passenger services

The Port of Calais offers travelers services before and after boarding checks. The ferry terminal, at the entrance to the port, is recognisable by its ochre cladding, designed as a tribute to the famous Calais lace.

  • Before recording:

A self-service restaurant called “Le Bistrot du Port” is located in the old terminal, a few minutes from the ferry terminal – open for lunch only.

  • After check-in and border controls:

At the Channel Tunnel terminal, take advantage of the many services available in the Calais building – home to the Duty Free Store and Calais Coffee Shop – as well as at our various service points.
