The combined transport platform
The intermodal terminal is directly connected to the national rail network, enabling two full 750-metre trains to be accommodated simultaneously at the quayside. It has two tracks to allow the movement of a RTG gantry crane.
- area: 30 hectares.
- handling: 2 single-deck RoRo gangways (T1, T4)
- capacities: 200+ m/140 m/120 m
- services: support vessels (mooring, pilotage, SNSM lifeboat service, etc.).
- T4 Bridge: Roll-on/roll-off vessels with a length of 180 m; draught of 9 m.
- T1 Bridge: Vessels of 130 m; draught of 7 m.
These two footbridges are backed by 25 hectares of green space.
These port facilities are serviced and equipped to handle unitised traffic: trailers (unaccompanied freight), containers (45’).
The rail motorway platform
The rail motorway platform is operated by VIIA (a subsidiary of RLE).
It enables rail transport and transhipment of grabable (P400) and non-grabable trailers using Lohr Industrie technology.
VIIA operates several return trips daily. The rail motorway service offers a schedule that mirrors the ferry service for an integrated rail Ro-Ro service.
Trailers originating from or destined for the Rail Motorway are not limited to maritime transhipment. They can freely enter or leave the motorway without any specific restrictions.
The operator offers four rail motorway services. This represents nearly 40 departures per week with daily services:
- Calais – Le Boulou (Perpignan)
- Calais – Orbassano (Turin) (suspendu temporairement)
- Calais – Mâcon (Lyon)
- Calais -Sète
