The fish auction

Boulogne-sur-Mer is France’s leading fishing port, with a diverse fleet of around 100 vessels and more than 70 different species landed every day.
The catch is sold at auction in the auction room and remotely via the internet every morning at 5 or 6 a.m., depending on the day, from Monday to Saturday, directly from the producer to the buyers. Transactions (invoicing, collection, payment to producers) are carried out via an electronic sales system by the fish market services.
All products sold at auction can be purchased remotely by connecting to the internet at the time of sale. This means that the products on sale can be purchased not only by remote fishmongers in France or abroad, but also by fishmongers, restaurateurs, wholesalers and processors.
Around a hundred businesses (fish wholesalers, fishmongers, salters, canners, etc.) are approved as buyers at the fish market.
The port of Boulogne-sur-Mer is ISO 22000 certified by AFAQ, guaranteeing our expertise in food safety risk management.

The packaging washing centre
A service for managing and washing empty packaging is available to customers from Monday to Saturday.
It processes crates, boxes, bins, lids and pallet boxes. The packaging washing station has a capacity for adaptation coupled with a high level of responsiveness, enabling it to provide a solution that closely matches its customers’ needs:
- Flexible engineering allows the washing process to be adapted to all types of packaging: crates, bins, lids, small and large modules, etc.
- The system is fully computerised, enabling packages to be tracked throughout the entire processing cycle.
This means that at any given moment, it is possible to know precisely how many crates are available for delivery.
The laundry centre is able to use RFID technology at the request of its customers.
On automated lines, 1,000 packages are cleaned and disinfected per hour before being dried, stacked and stored on site. The crates are then returned to the circuit accompanied by a receipt guaranteeing compliance with health standards.
Opening hours:
