Port Boulogne Calais has incorporated today’s and tomorrow’s environmental, social and societal issues into its core strategy to ensure sustainable development not only for itself but also for all its stakeholders, including customers and users, employees, suppliers, shareholders and institutions.

This approach is part of a policy of sustainable, socially responsible and inclusive growth based on continuous improvement and founded on respect for the fundamental international rights set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of the International Labour Organisation.
Port Boulogne Calais has identified six major challenges that address the concerns set out in the founding texts and various international standards and benchmarks:
1 – Promote safety and well-being at work & be open to social dialogue;
2 – Contribute to the energy transition and respect the environment and biodiversity;
3 – Be attractive and innovative;
4 – Develop a culture of risk awareness and management, and promote equality and diversity;
5 – Developing competitiveness and employment in the region;
6 – Combating corruption and promoting the development of the circular economy.
These six major challenges are broken down into 12 pillars relating to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
