As Europe’s leading port for cross-Channel traffic and France’s leading passenger port, it plays a vital role in passenger mobility and the smooth flow of goods. Every year, it welcomes several million passengers, cars and lorries, confirming its role as a major hub for maritime and road transport.<\/p>\n

Equipped with modern infrastructure, the port of Calais provides shipping companies, logistics operators and transporters with reliable, efficient and secure facilities.<\/p>\n

The port of Calais also has a commercial port capable of accommodating a wide range of vessels, from small units to post-Panamax ships. It is therefore developing bulk and new vehicle traffic. <\/p>\n

As part of its commitment to sustainable development, the Port of Calais is committed to supporting the energy transition and promoting environmentally friendly solutions. It actively supports the development of piggyback transport by encouraging modal shift, and is fully involved in an ambitious project aimed at completely decarbonising cross-Channel crossings by 2030. <\/p>\n

Terminal ferry<\/h2>\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t

The ferry terminal at the Port of Calais covers 120 hectares, comprising the historic Transmanche platform (Calais 1) and the new extension (Calais 2). Loading and unloading operations take place on either platform. Since it came into service in October 2021, entry and exit to the ferry terminal has been via the new port. <\/p>\n

It has six berths: P7, P8 and P9 in the historic port (Calais 1) and P10, P11 and P12 in the new port (Calais 2). They are equipped with double-deck gangways allowing two decks of ships to be loaded\/unloaded simultaneously. These gangways can accommodate ships up to 240 m in length at Calais 2 and 213 m at Calais 1. <\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The intermodal terminal is directly connected to the national rail network, enabling two full 750-metre trains to be accommodated simultaneously at the quayside. It has two tracks to allow the movement of a RTG gantry crane. <\/p>\n
